A septic line break at the Lebanon Fire Station has forced its firefighters to move into trailers with no running water.
According to CBS 13, the move may be permanent if the fire station doesn’t acquire more support from its town.
Fire chief Kurt Flynn says the cost of repair is over $100,000, a sum that the fire department doesn’t have the funds to pay.
Flynn says the station is in need of many repairs, and he has been advocating for a new fire station since he became fire chief three years ago. A town vote on Tuesday, however, rejected plans for a new fire station.
Another vote that would grant additional temporary living quarters if passed is set to be held July 11th at the town hall. Town selectmen say if the proposal is rejected, it could jeopardize the future of the fire department, which is staffed 24/7.
Only those who attend the town hall meeting that day can vote on the matter.
