Lewiston man arrested after police pursuit

Police say a Lewiston man who led officers on a chase is is facing several charges.

An officer attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by 31-year-old Chad Nichols near the intersection of Russell and College Streets in Lewiston around 11:40 a.m. Thursday. Nichols was wanted for drug trafficking.

Nichols took off when the officer approached, leading police on a chase that led to the town of Greene. He then headed back to Lewiston, where police decided to terminate the chase because Nichols was entering a populated area.

With the help of a police chopper, Nichols was later located in Lewiston and arrested.

He was charged with several crimes including eluding police, driving to endanger, and criminal speed.
