Lewiston Man Charged After Roadside Fight

BELMONT, Maine (WGAN)  The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says a Lewiston man has been charged after stabbing his son during a confrontation over the weekend.

The sheriff’s office says a trooper was driving on Route 3 in Belmont Saturday around 7 p.m. when they saw two men in a fight alongside the road.

After investigating, police say 59-year-old Allen Sanborn was driving with his 17-year-old son and a 16-year-old female when Sanborn and his son started arguing.

Sanborn pulled the car over and he and his son got out and continued the argument. Police say that’s when Sanborn allegedly stabbed his son in the torso, which caused a more physical fight.

Both were taken to Waldo County General Hospital for treatment of injuries.

Sanborn was charged with aggravated assault, domestic violence assault and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.  No bail was set.
