A toddler in Maine was revived after suffering an apparent drug overdose.

Police were called to a home on Knox Street in Lewiston around 9:45 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found a one-and-a-half-year-old boy who was described as “lifeless.”

A witness told officers the boy may have ingested heroin, fentanyl or another drug. The child began to regain consciousness after Narcan was administered.

Police said the boy is expected to recover and was being treated Tuesday morning at Central Maine Medical Center.

The boy’s mother, 20-year-old Khadija Aden, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and violating conditions of release.

Maine DHHS is now involved in the case.
