LEWISTON, Maine (WGAN)  The Lewiston Police Department says three people have been arrested on prostitution charges.

Police say they have been collaborating closely with the Office of the District Attorney and local social service advocates to address the issue of prostitution.

As a result, police say 31-year-old Karrah Knight, 35-year-old Brandi Hesketh and 35-year-old Nicole Ackerman were all recently arrested.

Police say all three Lewiston women have been offered a variety of social services “in hopes assisting them to make positive changes in their lives.”

Police say they will continue to try and address the issue of prostitution by targeting those engaging in and soliciting it.
