LIBERTY, Maine (WGAN) Police are investigating after they say an argument in Waldo County turned violent.

Chief Deputy Jason Trundy with the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office says a resident on Pinnacle Rd. in Liberty called 911 on Saturday after the victim of a shooting at a neighboring residence came to their home looking for help.

Police arrived on scene and determined that 68-year-old James Billings, who lives on the same road, got into an argument with a male who was residing at his home. Police say the argument escalated when Billings shot him with a handgun.

Police have not released details about Billings’ relationship with the victim, or the victim’s condition.

Billings was charged with Elevated Aggravated Assault. He’s being held without bail at Waldo County Jail.
