BANGOR, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says three people have been arrested after a drug bust in Bangor.

Drug agents say during their investigation, a male from Dorchester, Massachusetts, initially known only by his street name “Chosen,” was selling crack cocaine from an apartment on Hammond Street in the city.  As the investigation progressed, police were able to identify him as 49-year-old Shawn Larts, who has a long criminal history in Massachusetts, involving drug and firearms offenses.

Agents were able to make a number of undercover purchases of crack cocaine from Larts and his associates from inside of apartment #4 at 175 Hammond Street apartment.

Tuesday night, agents, along with Bangor Police Officers, took Larts into custody as he was leaving the Hammond Street apartment. A search warrant was then executed on apartment #4. This apartment was occupied by a husband and wife, 64-year-old Paul Ness and 59-year-old Yvonne Ness.

During the search agents seized around $2,500 in cash, suspected to be the proceeds of illegal drug sales and an additional 10 grams of crack cocaine, as well as other evidence of drug trafficking.

Drug agents say because 175 Hammond Street is located within 1,000 feet of a City of Bangor park (Coe Park) which has been designated a “drug free safe zone,” Larts was charged with Aggravated Class A Trafficking in Scheduled W Drugs. Because of their roles in facilitating Larts trafficking activity, both Paul and Yvonne Ness were charged with the same offense.

All were transported to the Penobscot County Jail where bail has been set at $10,000 cash.

Agents say this investigation is continuing and more arrests are possible.
