The Maine Department of Health and Human Services said Tuesday that it’s working with ModivCare to provide free rides to vaccine appointments for people who need them.

ModivCare coordinates rides for MaineCare members. Health department Commissioner Jeanne Lambrew said the new option “helps residents who may struggle to get to and from a clinic for a life saving vaccine.”

The department said residents who need a ride must have an appointment and must request the ride at least 48 hours in advance. The number to call is 855-608-5172.
