Maine man accused of running over man, kidnapping in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH, Maine (WGAN) A Trenton man is accused of running over another man and kidnapping a woman in Ellsworth.

Police responded to a report of a man being run over and stabbed on Tuesday night. According to the Bangor Daily News, 35-year-old Matthew Milliken is accused of threatening the driver of a pickup truck he was riding in. When the driver got out, Milliken allegedly got behind the wheel and ran him over.

Police said Milliken continued driving with a woman still inside the vehicle.

The vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the Ellsworth Police Department, at which point the woman fled.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office says Milliken lunged at a deputy while he was being arrested, and was tased by another deputy.

The man who was run over was being treated at Northern Light Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. The woman was not hurt.

Milliken is charged with kidnapping, robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident is under investigation.
