A man from Wales, Maine faces several charges for allegedly leading police on a chase in a stolen car.

Maine State Police said a trooper tried to stop the vehicle being driven by 46-year-old Kirk Grover on I-95 in Pittsfield on Monday afternoon due to speeding, aggressive driving and false attachment of registration plates.

Grover allegedly took off, leading police on a pursuit that ended when he stopped on his own in Clinton.

Grover had several active arrest warrants. He was out on bail and had a suspended driver’s license. Police also said he had stolen the vehicle from a dealership and spray-painted it black.

His passenger, 32-year-old Victoria Stockwell of Lewiston, was not hurt.

Grover was taken to Somerset County Jail.
