Maine man charged after allegedly making threat directed at Gorham daycare, causing police standoff

A man accused of making threats to a local daycare was taken into custody after a standoff in Gray.

Cumberland County deputies went to a home on Shaker Road around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday to arrest 29-year-old Landen Rankin, who was wanted for felony domestic violence terrorizing.

Rankin allegedly made threats to a Gorham daycare, prompting authorities to issue a “Reverse 911” requesting residents shelter-in-place. Area schools were also put in lockdown.

Rankin was taken into custody without incident after exiting his home around 11:15 a.m. and taken to Cumberland County Jail.
