Maine Man Pleads Guilty to Arson in Home Fire Case

LIVERMORE FALLS, Maine (AP) – Fire officials in Maine say a man has pleaded guilty to a criminal charge in connection with a fire at his home earlier in the year.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says 27-year-old Colton Webster of Livermore Falls pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal mischief on Tuesday. The office says Webster admitted to setting fire in the detached garage Jan. 19.

Webster was not injured in the fire, which badly damaged the garage. He received a deferred sentence for the crime. The office says the charge against Webster will be reduced to a misdemeanor if he completes counseling and restitution and stays out of trouble for two years. Prosecutors will seek a harsher sentence if he does not meet the requirements.
