(AP) The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported 215 additional coronavirus cases and one new death Friday.

State public health officials say 904 people from Maine have died with COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

New daily cases of coronavirus continued to climb.

The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases in Maine has risen over the past two weeks from 68.57 new cases a day on July 28 to 187.33 new cases a day on Wednesday. The seven-day rolling average of daily deaths in Maine did not increase over the past two weeks, going from 1.14 deaths a day on July 28 to 0.43 deaths a day Wednesday.

The AP is using data collected by Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering to measure outbreak caseloads and deaths across the United States.

The Maine CDC says there have been more than 70,000 confirmed cases of the virus in the state since the start of the pandemic.

About 70% of the state’s eligible population is fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
