WASHINGTON, D.C. (WGAN)  Maine’s two U.S. Senators have joined a growing chorus of colleagues calling for Minnesota Sen. Al Franken.

“The latest allegation adds to a very disturbing list of allegations against Senator Franken. And I think it would be best for the Senate if he followed the advice of his Democratic colleagues,” Sen. Susan Collins told CNN Wednesday afternoon.

Sen. Angus King issued a statement on his Twitter page.

A group of female Democratic senators also said Wednesday that Franken should resign. The senator’s office has said he would make an announcement on Thursday.
