The state of Maine says 300,000 Mainers will soon be receiving a check in the mail for $104.

State Treasurer Henry Beck says that beginning next week, his office will begin mailing out the checks to recipients of the Property Tax Relief Fund. According to our info partners at CBS 13, a new state law requires the treasurer to provide tax relief payments of no less than $100 to homeowners when the fund reaches a certain threshold.

About 310,000 eligible recipients will be receiving checks between next week and March 1st.

The treasurer’s office says it will launch a hotline on January 7th to answer questions about the fund and payments. Mainers can call 207-624-7477 and select option 3.
