A Maine State Trooper who was struck by a vehicle during a chase has been released from the hospital.

Trooper Mickael Nunez was struck by the vehicle on June 14th while trying to deploy a spike mat on Route 3 in China.

State police on Monday said Nunez was released from Maine General Medical Center last Thursday morning after undergoing surgery for a broken leg. He was escorted by troopers to Massachusetts, where he’ll begin rehabilitation. That’s expected to take about three weeks.

53-year-old Robert Belmain of Caribou was charged in the pursuit. He had fled from police during a traffic stop and eventually crashed. He was also hospitalized.
