Maine woman dies whitewater rafting

A 33-year-old Fairfield woman has died after being ejected from a whitewater raft on the Kennebec River according to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

The incident occurred Saturday morning around 11:30 am when Emily Fournier and her family were rafting with Magic Falls Rafting Company. Emily and 2 others were thrown from the raft after hitting turbulent rapids.

Fournier floated through a portion of the Kennebec river then was pulled back into the raft but was unresponsive.

The raft pulled over at an emergency evacuation point and emergency life saving measures were performed but Fournier was declared deceased around 1pm.
