Man accused in deadly Acadia National Park hit-and-run pleads not guilty

A man accused of killing his girlfriend in a hit-and-run in Acadia National Park entered a not guilty plea Thursday.

Raymond Lester of Portland is charged with intentional or knowing murder in the death of Nicole Mokeme.

Lester is accused of striking Mokeme with his SUV last summer during a retreat that Mokeme had organized.

He entered his plea during a brief hearing held via Zoom.

Lester’s next court date is in January.
