Man arrested after shootings leave 4 dead in Bowdoin and others hurt in Yarmouth

Maine State Police say a man has been arrested in connection with shootings in Bowdoin and Yarmouth that left four people dead, and three others hurt.

The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office says it was notified of a shooting on at a home on Augusta Road in Bowdoin around 9:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office says four people were found dead inside the home.

Later, at about 10:30 a.m., three people were injured when several cars were shot at on I-295 southbound in Yarmouth between Mile Marker 17 and Exit 15.

The three individuals were taken to the hospital, and one of them was listed in critical condition.

State police say they arrested 34-year-old Joseph Eaton of Bowdoin and charged him with murder.

Eaton was booked into Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and is expected to make his initial court appearance this week.

Police say the names of the people who died will not be released until the medical examiner confirms their identities and next of kin are notified.

Police are expected to provide more details about the shootings on Wednesday.
