Man Faces Charges After Reportedly Crashing Motorcycle in New Gloucester

A 31-year-old Portland man faces several charges after deputies say he nearly hit an oncoming car on his motorcycle and then crashed.

Cumberland County deputies say they tried to stop Michael Cooper for speed and improper registration on Intervale Road in New Gloucester Friday night, but did not chase Cooper when he drove off.

They say they later found a gathering of cars on the same road, observing the same motorcycle, which crashed.

Deputies say Cooper lost control after recklessly passing cars before nearly hitting an oncoming car, then crashed into the shoulder.

He was taken to Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.

Cooper face charges for operating after suspension as well as without a license, driving to endanger and failing to stop for law enforcement.
