BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) The owner of an apartment house was shot dead in Maine and a suspect was arrested hours later in New Hampshire, police said.

Randal J. Hennessy, 30, of Biddeford, was arrested without incident Tuesday in Durham, New Hampshire, by the U.S. Marshal’s Maine Violent Offender Task Force, officials said. He’s being detained as a fugitive from justice at the Strafford County Jail. It was unclear if he had an attorney.

The victim, Douglas Michaud, 31, of Biddeford, died on the porch of the building, police said. Property records show he was the owner of the multi-unit building, the Portland Press Herald reported.

Maine Public Safety Department spokesperson Shannon Moss didn’t say how Hennessey and Michaud knew each other. Police responded to a 911 call around 3 p.m. and the arrest was made at about 8 p.m., police said.

Michaud’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, which was expected to be conducted Wednesday, officials said.
