Man found by trash workers dies, police investigate

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) Police in Portland are investigating the death of a man who was found semi-conscious by trash workers.

Police said the workers found the 44-year-old man at about 2 a.m. Friday and began performing CPR on him after calling 911. Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him, but were unsuccessful.

An autopsy was planned.

Police said they know the man was walking west on Free Street from the area of the Cross Insurance Arena with another man shortly before he was found. They are seeking the public help with their investigation.
