A man was hospitalized after a shooting in Lewiston Monday night.

Officers responded to Horton St. around 8:15 p.m. after they received reports of multiple gun shots.

When they arrived, they found a 26-year-old man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen.

Police tell CBS 13 the man was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he was in stable condition Tuesday morning.

Police say they are searching for individuals who were seen fleeing from the area, and they have seized a vehicle believed to have been occupied by some of the people involved in the incident.

The shooting remains under investigation.
