Man killed in police-involved shooting in Minot

MINOT, Maine (WGAN) Police say a man was shot and killed by officers Sunday night in Minot.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were searching for an armed man with an impaired mental status. Police attempted to pull him over in Auburn. He sped off, leading police on a chase that ended in Minot when he struck a police cruiser.

He then fled on foot and was shot and killed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office, which is standard for all officer-involved shootings.

The man’s name has not been released.
