Man to serve 11 years for fatal Millinocket shooting

A Bangor man will spend 11 years in prison in connection with a deadly shooting last year in Millinocket.

46-year-old Jason Mulligan pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Tuesday in the shooting death of 23-year-old Cameron Pelkey of Millinocket. Mulligan was sentenced to 20 years in prison with all but 11 suspended.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Mulligan went to an apartment for a drug deal. He accused the other residents of stealing his drugs and pointed a gun at them. The gun went off during a struggle and Pelkey was shot in the head.

Mulligan was also sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to pay more than $1,300 in restitution for Pelkey’s funeral expenses.
