A man who was counting money while driving crashed and totaled his truck in Sabattus, according to police.

The crash happened Wednesday morning around 6:20 a.m. on Middle Road. Police say the 32-year-old man from Greene had just cashed a paycheck and was counting his money while driving about 50 mph.

His truck then went on to the shoulder and clipped a mailbox, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and go into a ditch. He then struck a culvert, causing the truck to go airborne for about 68 feet and then nose-dive onto the ground and roll over.

Police say he was wearing a seatbelt and suffered only a bump on the head and some minor back pain.

He will not be charged.
