Man Wanted in Murder Investigation in NC Arrested in Bangor

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN)  The Bangor Police Department says a Maine man wanted in connection with a murder investigation in North Carolina was arrested at Bangor International Airport on Monday.

Police say around 4 p.m. yesterday, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina contacted them, indicating that 26-year-old Javon Richardson was on a flight that was about to land in Bangor.

Police had a full extradition warrant for the Brewer man, charging him with obstructing justice in connection with a homicide that happened on April 11 in Hollister, North Carolina.

Police say they saw Richardson after he de-boarded the plane and approached him at the luggage carousel. He was taken into custody without incident.

Richardson was taken to Penobscot County Jail and will be held pending extradition back to North Carolina.

Police say Richardson is believed to have lived in North Carolina before moving to Maine at some point last year.
