Maryland Man Injured in Snowmobile Accident on Rangeley Lake

RANGELEY LAKE, Maine (WGAN)  Maine Game Wardens say a Maryland man has been seriously injured after a snowmobile accident on Rangeley Lake.

The Warden Service says 46-year-old Mark Chase from Baldwin, Maryland was driving on the lake Wednesday morning in the area of Hunter Cove when he hit a pressure ridge and was thrown from his snowmobile.

Wardens say other snowmobilers found Chase and went to get help. He was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight for serious injuries. Wardens say he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Wardens say they’ve received several reports of snowmobile incidents involving pressure ridges on local lakes and ponds. They’re urging riders to use caution when snowmobiling on anyh body of water.
