A coronavirus outbreak at the Cumberland County Jail has grown to 29 cases.

Sheriff Kevin Joyce says they tested a couple of inmates and employees who became symptomatic last week, and by Friday had two inmates and two staff members test positive. That prompted testing of all inmates and staff.

Late Monday night, results came in showing that 24 more inmates had tested positive.

Joyce says the sheriff’s office is working closely with the Maine CDC to identify and isolate any further spread through the jail.
