A new Sichuan-style hot pot restaurant set to open in downtown Portland before the end of the year.

According to the Portland Old Port website, Tuan Yuan Hotpot will be located in the Portland Stage building on Forest Avenue in a newly renovated 2,700-square-foot space.

Hot Pot” is a fast-growing restaurant concept in which people gather around a simmering pot of broth and their own dishes by dipping different meats, proteins or vegetables into the broth.

The new Tuan Yuan Hotpot will be operated by the owners of Sichuan Kitchen, which is also in downtown Portland.

Portland Old Port reports that the restaurant’s liquor license application reveals items on the menu, which includes Miyazaki Wagyu, Twin Lobster Tails and Ton-Toro Pork Cheek, among other dishes

Qi Shen opened Sichuan Kitchen at 612 Congress Street in January 2017.
