A new political party in Maine has enough enrolled voters to get ballot access in this year’s election.

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows’ office announced Friday that the No Labels Party has been confirmed as a qualified party in Maine. Officials reviewed a request from the party and confirmed it has more than 5,000 enrolled voters, which is the minimum needed to qualify in the primary election and the general election in the presidential race.

As of Jan. 2 there were more than 9,400 Maine voters enrolled in the party.

Under Maine’s new semi-open primary law, unenrolled voters can vote in any party primary without having to enroll. They can only vote in one party primary.

Enrolled voters can only vote in their own party’s primary.
