PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland officials have released the identity of a woman found dead after a fire on Monday.

Police say the body of 64-year-old Linda Butterworth was found after a fire broke out at the apartment building at 609 Ocean Avenue just after 4PM on Monday. Investigators say Butterworth did not die as a result of the fire, and the cause of death is still under investigation. They don’t consider the death to be suspicious.

Investigators say the fire was an accident and likely caused by smoking materials that lit a chair on fire. The fire was limited to just one unit in the apartment, and tenants were allowed back inside.
