Gorham Police

One person is dead and three are injured from a crash Monday evening that left a minivan upside down in a pond off Brackett Road in Gorham.

Officers say a Dodge Grand Caravan minivan driven by a 34-year-old Westbrook man crashed with a Honda CRV compact SUV driven by an 82-year-old woman from Saco.

They say the man escaped from the overturned minivan and was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Two of his passengers had to be rescued with serious injuries, and one of them, 68-year-old Joyce Provencher of Westbrook, later died at Maine Medical Center.

The SUV driver and their passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

It took place near 70 Brackett Road in Gorham around 5 p.m. Monday.
