One person injured after tractor-trailer collides with train in Prospect

A freight train collided with a tractor-trailer at a railroad crossing in Waldo County on Monday.

It happened around 1 p.m. on Muskrat Farm Road in Prospect. The collision did not derail the train, but the truck was thrown into a ditch and the truck driver was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Prospect Fire Chief David Terry told WVII, “it’s like a lot of rural roads in Maine. There are no crossing lights, no crossing bars. It’s mostly a rural, residential road.”

The crash remains under investigation.
