Maine Congresswoman Chellie Pingree says she’ll boycott next Tuesday’s State of the Union address by President Trump to join a counter rally with fellow Democrats.

Pigree will join a growing number of Senators and Representatives at the Washington Mall for what the group is calling the “People’s State of the Union.”

The gathering follows last year’s State of the Union, in which Democrats were widely panned for being incoherent when they held paddles with short messages inside the chamber.
The event Pingree is attending comes as Democratic leadership is asking members to sit quietly during Trump’s speech or avoid it altogether.
A news release from Pingree says the gathering will feature residents from across the country who the Trump Administration has impacted.
The counterrally is being organized by left-leaning groups MeidasTouch & MoveOn.
