PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Portland police say a man who was threatening officers and displayed a rifle while they were arresting an OUI suspect was taken into custody.

The department says officers responded after a truck hit a traffic pole at the intersection of Park Avenue and Mellen Street overnight on Saturday. While they were at the scene, police said a man in a nearby apartment was attempting to interfere and being disorderly. They said he displayed an AR-15 style long rifle.

29-year-old Cameron Hanscom of Portland and two other occupants in the apartment surrendered without incident.

Hanscom faces multiple charges and was taken to Cumberland County Jail.
