Police Asking for Public’s Help Finding Missing Grave Marker


AUGUSTA, Maine (WGAN)  Augusta Police say they are investigating after the theft of a grave marker from a fallen officer’s grave site.

Police say every summer, brass flag holders with the words “Maine Law Enforcement Officer Killed in the Line of Duty” are placed at the grave sites of Rufus Lishness and Selden Jones.  Both were killed in the line of duty.

Police say these holder at Officer Lishness’s grave as been stolen.  Police say an extensive search by officers has turned up nothing.

Police are asking the community to help them find the missing marker.
