A Presque Isle man was taken into custody after a high-speed pursuit with police that went on for 58 miles.

East Millinocket police say officers tried to pull the man’s vehicle over on I-95 in Medway around 4 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say the driver, 34-year-old Brandin Bouchard, allegedly took off in his vehicle, driving erratically and reaching speeds of over 100 MPH.

At one point, Bouchard slowed down and two people got out of the vehicle. They claimed they were being held hostage.

Bouchard led police through several towns before driving through someone’s yard and crashing into a ditch near some railroad tracks.

Police allegedly found drugs after searching Bouchard. His license was also revoked and he was out on bail.

Bouchard faces several charges and was taken to Penobscot County Jail.

One of his passengers was summonsed for unlawful possession of drugs.
