Yarmouth police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who they say approached a woman and a young child and asked them if they wanted to go for a ride.

Police say the suspicious incident happened Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 at the Yarmouth Pointe apartment complex on Juniper Drive.

They said an older white male in a gold Toyota sedan approached the woman and the child separately. He allegedly asked them how old they were and then offered them a ride. A woman who had already been approached by him earlier intervened when she saw him doing the same thing with a young child.

The man then left the area, heading out East Main Street towards Freeport.

Police said the vehicle had a sun roof and a black dog in the back seat.

Yarmouth police are asking anyone with information about this incident or any other suspicious activity to give them a call.
