Police investigate killings of 2 people after gunfire erupts in Lewiston

Authorities say the shooting deaths of two people in Lewiston over the weekend are being investigated as homicides.

Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says 30-year-old Mohammed Sheik of Auburn and 23-year-old Keyt Hussein of Lewiston died in Sunday’s shooting on Knox Street. Police responded to the incident around 10:20 a.m. Sunday.

Following the results of autopsies, officials said both people died of gunshot wounds and both deaths are being investigated as homicides.

Police say the shootings appear to be an isolated incident.

Investigators were interviewing people of interest and processing evidence from the scene on Tuesday.
