A child who was run over by a vehicle in Westbrook and rescued by a police officer didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Westbrook police said the 5-year-old boy was stuck underneath the vehicle Thursday afternoon on Day Street.

The department said Officer Nate Mandeville arrived on scene and used a jack from the driver to jack the vehicle up, then had the child’s father pull him out.

The child was shaken up but didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

Police said the driver was turning and didn’t see the child, who was crouched down and playing with chalk.

No charges are expected.
