Police say driver failed to yield to dump truck in Wilton crash

Police say a crash involving a dump truck that left six people injured was the result of a driver failing to yield to the truck.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Monday on Route 2 in Wilton near the intersection with Jay Street.

All five people inside the Ford Focus were hospitalized, including two 4-year-olds and a 12-year-old. According to CBS 13 news, all of them have been released except one woman who suffered a broken rib and a fractured collarbone.

The driver of the truck was also taken to the hospital but it’s not clear if he has since been released.

Police said the driver of the Ford Focus failed to yield to the truck, causing the collision.

No charges are pending.
