Crews in Portland were working on snow removal Monday following a significant winter storm that dropped more than a foot of snow on Maine’s largest city.

Monday morning, Portland officials announced that a Yellow Zone parking would be in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Vehicles left on city streets within the Yellow Zone can be towed at the owner’s expense.

City leaders say it’s important to clear narrow downtown streets and remove as much snow as possible.

A press release from the city says the Yellow Zone “includes the downtown district bounded by Cumberland Avenue, Franklin Street, Commercial Street, and State Street.”
