(AP) Fireworks will return to Maine’s largest city on July 4 a year after the annual celebration was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic.

Portland officials said the fireworks display will be a scaled-down event compared to previous years. There will be no musical performances.

The fireworks will take place on Eastern Promenade as usual. The city is encouraging residents to also watch from other locations around the city such as Payson Park and Martin’s Point.
