Portland man faces charges after allegedly stealing vehicle and crashing it

WINDHAM, Maine (WGAN) A Portland man is accused of crashing a stolen vehicle in Windham on Monday.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday just south of the rotary on Route 302. Police say it involved three vehicles, one of which was allegedly stolen from a McDonald’s in Freeport.

Police say that vehicle’s driver, 39-year-old Tauri Barnes, ran off into the woods when he was spotted by officers, but was eventually tracked down after a witness stepped in to help.

Barnes faces several charges, including assault on a police officer. He was also injured in the crash.
