Portland man pleads guilty in girlfriend’s strangulation death

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) A Portland man accused of strangling his girlfriend to death pleads guilty.

The Portland Press Herald reports 62-year-old Gregory Vance made his plea in court on Wednesday. The body of his girlfriend, 59-year-old Patricia Grassi, was found in the apartment on Cumberland Avenue where the two lived together on March 17th. He was arrested that day.

Vance was indicted on a murder charge in May and initially pleaded not guilty. He’ll be sentenced in December. Under a plea agreement, that sentence will be capped at 35 years.
