Portland police search for stabbing suspect

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) Police in Portland are looking for a man who they stabbed another man Thursday morning.

Police said the stabbing happened near 18 Cedar Street around 10:30 a.m. They found a man on the street bleeding from a stab wound on his arm. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, but he was taken to the hospital to undergo surgery.

Police believe the stabbing happened inside of a home nearby, and the suspect had fled the scene by the time they arrived. He’s described as a black male, 5’05” with long braids or dreads. He was wearing a dark colored shirt. Anyone with information should contact police.

It’s not yet clear if the two men knew each other. Police say they don’t believe it was a random attack.
