Portland’s “Clean Water Week”

The city of Portland is celebrating its “Clean Water Week” from June 1-7. The celebration of water resources is part of the city’s “Greener Neighborhoods Cleaner Streams” initiative and has been taking place since 1983. 

Portland city staff will work alongside businesses and volunteers to put on cleanup events, educational tours, and kids’ activities. 

The goal of the week is to “help spread the word about the importance of clean water and celebrate those doing their part in keeping our waters clean in our community,” according to the city of Portland.When it comes to keeping our rivers, streams, and bays clean, everyone plays an important role,” said the city. 

The city website includes an itinerary of events for the week.
