Proposed Bills to Increase Salaries for Maine Teachers

Three proposed bills aim to raise the starting pay for teachers in Maine.

The Portland Press Herald reports the bills were presented Monday before the Legislature’s Education and Cultural Affairs Committee. Under any of the proposed bills, the starting salary for teachers would be at least $40,000.

The current base salary of $30,000 has been the same since 2005.
