Raising money for veterans by rappelling in Portland

Dozens of people rappelled down One Canal Plaza in Portland on Saturday to raise money for veterans in Maine.

The organization “Veterans Count” is raising money for their programs supporting the military and their families.

Don Lema, a veteran himself, spent the day volunteering at the event, and encouraged fellow veterans to seek help if they need it. He explained that “Veterans Count” supported him when he was in a difficult housing situation, but it took him 30 years to ask for help after he left the Marine Corp.
